France Acts Against Absinthe

The French Government has at last become thoroly aroused to the dangers lurking in the absinthe which her people have of late been using as a beverage. This deadly liquor is making rapid inroads upon the constitutions of the people, fastening itself upon them with a grip from which they seem unable to break away, once they have become victims to it. French publicists have begun to admit that there is really a decadence in the French people as a result of imbibing this intoxicant. The government has taken action abolishing it from the canteens of the army, and has increased the customs on it one-half.
