A Wager on Conversion

The so-called “evangelist” in New York who has wagered $1,000 that in fifteen nights fifteen souls will be converted at his meetings is lacking in the sense of what conversion means, and of how it is obtained, else he would not go thru such a farce. People are wasting their time when they attend meetings conducted by a man who does not have any more of the realization of the sacred power of God that works in conversion than to wager upon it, as tho he were a jockey at a race-track.
