Mob Justice Threatened in Marietta

In Marietta, Ohio, a boy of twenty assailed a young girl of nineteen, and cut her so severely that she is dying from her wounds. The women of the place say that if the men do not lynch the culprit they will do it themselves, the three sisters of the dying girl offering to lead the mob. It is a sad, sad commentary on the much-talked-of civilization of the twentieth century that there is so much unpunished crime in the country that so many people, from sheer desperation, insist upon taking their grievances before the tribunal of the mob, rather than into the halls where justice should preside.
