Supreme Court Orders Neely Returned to Cuba

The Supreme Court on January 14 handed down its decision in the case of C. W. F. Neely, charged with embezzlement of the public funds of Cuba while financial agent of the Department of Posts for the island. According to this decision, Neely must be taken back to Cuba and stand trial there for his offense. The decision further declares that the island of Cuba is foreign territory, is no part of the United States, is simply held in trust by this country, and is to be turned over to the Cubans when a stable government has been established.
