A Healthful Thanksgiving Dinner
By Editor
Roast turkey, and plum pudding, and cranberry pie, and many other such indigestible articles of food, are not necessary on “Thanksgiving day” in order to be thankful. Very frequently the eating of “Thanksgiving” dinners makes people grumblers for several days or weeks after. A simple diet is to be preferred, and there is much more blessing in it. We present in another column a Thanksgiving dinner menu, with some accompanying recipes. It is not elaborate, but it is good. Of course it could be varied with many simple, healthful, home dishes. The good old-time pumpkin could take the place of the less abundant lemon, in the pie. We hope that many of our readers will test this menu and give the poor turkey a chance not to be eaten. Save the money he would cost for a feast for some poor family on food equally good and much less expensive.
