HEALDSBURG COLLEGE.

To the Readers of “The Signs of the Times” Who Are Interested in the Above School.

BRETHREN AND SISTERS: Do you realize that the Healdsburg College is to commence its first term of its sixteenth year Wednesday, September 7, 1898? Are the young people who are coming, going to be ready to begin school the first day?
Were a company to start on a journey for a distant place, all would want to be on hand to start together, especially if each had equal traveling facilities. A week or two late would place one at a great disadvantage. So, if one starts in with a course of study a week or two late, in order to catch up with his class, if they are doing faithful work, he must either slight the work, work harder than he ought, or have a better mind than the class, to grasp the thoughts quicker. For these and other reasons it is best to be on hand at the beginning and remain to the close of the term or year.
Don’t come to the college without first making provision to pay your way. We have made some preparations for making brooms, but our machinery has to be purchased yet. The trades we start are to be a help to the student paying his way; but it is not expected that one could learn a trade and get enough wages from his work to pay his way in school at the same time.
We trust that those who can not come this term will not be discouraged, but by hard work and trust in the Lord for guidance, they may be able in another year to attend the college. May the Lord bless the many who have a desire to fit themselves for greater usefulness in the Master’s great harvest field. H. F. COURTER,
Sec. Board of Trustees Healdsburg College. Healdsburg, Aug. 29, 1898.
