Not of This World

He who is truly a Christian is “not of this world,” even as Christ “is not of this world.” For this we have the words of Christ Himself (John 17:14); are they not worthy of credence? Says the apostle Paul: “For tho we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Cor. 10:3-5. The warfare over sin is mightier than that waged by the sword, and “he that ruleth his spirit” is greater “than he that taketh a city.” Prov. 16:32.
Jesus said: “My kingdom is not of this world; if My kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now is My kingdom not from hence.” And “as He is, so are we in this world.”
