Spain to Strengthen Its Navy

A Madrid Despatch states that “the Spanish Government will ask the Cortes for $40,000,000, to be used in strengthening her navy.” Altho bankrupt now, yet the spirit of war is such in this age that Spain feels impelled to “keep abreast of the times,” by “strengthening her navy,” even tho it plunges her far beyond her present almost hopeless insolvency.
