The Pitcairn.

We wish to correct a statement which has appeared in several papers of late, to the effect that our missionary brigantine Pitcairn had been sold to a party of gold-seekers, to go to the Klondike gold-fields. It is true that an offer of $10,000 was made for the boat, but while negotiations were pending the party withdrew the offer, on account of the lateness of the season and his failing to secure the requisite number of passengers to warrant his making the trip. Therefore the Pitcairn still remains in the hands of the General Conference, and is anchored here in Oakland harbor. She will probably be fitted up soon for another trip to the South Sea islands. Had the Pitcairn been sold, another boat would have been built at once, to take her place. C. H. JONES.
