A King Who Reigns in Righteousness

THE social condition of this poor world is much like its surface, greatly broken up and uneven. It is said that a cool $100,000,000 were spent on the queen’s jubilee festivities, and one writer says that at one of the receptions not less than $10,000,000 blazed in costly diamonds. At the same time thousands of “her most gracious majesty’s” subjects were dying of famine in India. How such things make one long for the time when the “King shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment. And a Man [“the Man” Christ Jesus] shall be as an hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.” Welcome, glad day!
