Seventh-day Adventists in 1896

In the Independent’s symposium of “The Churches in 1896,” the first article is, alphabetically, on the “Adventists,” by Elder O. A. Olsen, president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. In the statistical table the strength of Seventh-day Adventists is given as 256 ministers, 1,258 churches, and 45,109 members; the increase for the year, 3 ministers, 57 churches, and 3,981 members. This probably falls considerably below the actual number of those who embraced the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus during this period.
