“I KNOW THY WORKS.”

In busy days or stilly night A voice I ofttimes hear— A still, small voice in tones so light, Yet bringing wholesome fear,— “I know thy works.”
Not only fear that voice doth bring, But hope and joy as well; Tho marred by self my offering, The motive he can tell, And bless my work.
He knows the ill his children do, He knows the good and true; Chaff from the wheat he winnows out, Gives meed to me and you, And owns our work.
