LIKE FATHER LIKE CHILDREN.

BY J. E. RANKIN.
Thou callest, Lord, the stars by name; To do thy will, they come, aflame, In the blue corridors of night, Obedient to, “Let there be light!” So let thy children everywhere The Gospel torch uplifted bear.
Thou robest the lilies of the field In raiment which no loom can yield; They tremble as thou passest there, And yield their perfume to the air; So may the children of the light Love’s perfume yield in spotless white.
Thou hear’st the ravens when they cry; From thy high throne of majesty, Dost stoop their hungry mouths to feed, And satisfiest all their need; So may thy children by thee fed Give to thy poor the Living Bread.
