Increasing Persecution.—In 1878 began the arrest and imprisonment of Sabbath-keepers in Arkansas. In 1893 there were eleven cases of arrest and imprisonment; in 1894, twenty-three cases; in 1895, forty-seven cases; and since 1878, one hundred and twenty-six cases. The number of days spent in confinement by these one hundred and twenty-six persons is 1,438, of which 810 were spent in the chain-gang. The year 1896 has, in its first half, added to the above, thirteen arrests and 300 days’ imprisonment. The work will not cease, but, according to the prophecy of God’s word, will go on and increase till liberty is at an end in this country, and religious tyranny has bound the government hand and foot. These facts we gather from a circular letter received from the International Religious Liberty Association, 39 Bond Street, New York City. This organization is endeavoring to help the persecuted and enlighten the ignorant with reference to right principles. They need, and can use to good advantage, funds. Send direct to them, or to us for them.
