Mission Work Among India’s Lepers

Much Christian work is being done among the 250,000 lepers in India. During the last ten years 300 persons of this class have been admitted to the asylum at Almora, in northern India, under the care of the London Missionary Society, and about half the number have been converted. At Pithagorah, notfar away, is an asylum under charge of the Methodist missionaries from the United States, and at Umballa, in the Punjab, there has for many years been a leper asylum, conducted by American Presbyterian missionaries. There are also various other homes that have been established for this unfortunate class, and in one of them, Parulia, 55 out of the 67 lepers received became converted to Christ.—Congregationalist.
