UNNATURAL DRINKS.

THE following from the New York Voice, written by a physician, will speak for itself:—
EDITOR OF THE Housewife’s Club: In a recent Voice there appeared a contributed article that I fear may mislead many of its readers. The article I reply to says: “The cocoas—chocolate preparations, usually agree—are but slightly stimulant.”
Nature wants no stimulant. Slight stimulants pave the road to ruin.
Cocain is one of the worst stimulants. Let us have none of it. Nature requires only food and water for the stomach. When we leave the simplicity of nature, we enter a maze of error from which men never escape.
Tea and coffee are stimulants. You can not overthrow the monstrous evils of intoxicating drinks, while you use them yourselves. Tea and coffee can intoxicate. Tea cigarettes are fast coming into use, and cause intoxication.
More than four-fifths of our bodies are made of water. Let this be taken pure and as nature demands. Let healthful living secure pure blood, steady nerves, strong muscles, a clear brain inspired by truth, and hearts inspired by love for humanity and pity for its woes.
