Brother Nash Fined Under Mississippi Sunday Law
BROTHER R. T. NASH had his trial at Aberdeen, Miss., on the 10th inst., for violation of the state Sunday law. He was fined $5.00 and costs, amounting in all to $27.80. A friend agreed to settle the fine, and the prisoner was allowed to go home. The judge referred in a respectful manner to his religious convictions and uniform good character, but maintained that these could not be held as an excuse for violating the statute. But Brother Nash’s contention that “we ought to obey God rather than men” will hold good in the Supreme Court of heaven. The consequences here are of small moment when compared with results there.
