Questioning the Christian Character of the W.C.T.U

The New York Voice of November 7 says editorially that “the two prime objects of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union’s work” is “Prohibition and Woman Suffrage.” It might well be asked, What is there “Christian” about either of these? There are, it is safe to say, infidels and Jews working for both. Now that the W. C. T. U. has become in its prime objects a political organization, would it not be consistent to drop the term “Christian,” or the initial “C”? The organization does not stand for what it once did.
