Rescued.

A child stood at the turn of a narrow mountain road, as a stage, loaded with passengers and baggage, came thundering along. It looked up and smiled in the face of imminent death. With great effort the horses were stopped, the driver sprang to the ground, and gently lifted the child out of the road. But then the infant wept piteously. So it is with God’s people, who drift on toward ruin, fancying themselves prosperous, and when their Father which is in Heaven stretches out his hand to save them, they call his help “affliction,” and weep and mourn. Blessed, indeed, are they who at all times can feel that “He doeth all things well.” We must believe it, and “what we know not now we shall know hereafter.”—Christian Advocate.
