To the Brethren in the State of New York.

You have already seen by the notice in the Review that we are to be favored with the labors of Eld. S. N. Haskell at the coming meeting for organizing a State Tract Society. This will be one of the most important meetings for business connected with the cause of present truth ever held in this State. We are about inaugurating an enterprise that bids fair to accomplish much in the dissemination of light concerning the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Bro. Haskell has given the subject of tract distribution, and the organization necessary for its accomplishment, much thought, and has matured and tested in the New England conference a plan of operation which has proved in an eminent degree successful. I regard it therefore as very providential that our brother is able to help us at this time in our attempt to set out as a conference in this good work. And now I beseech you to regard my counsel in one thing: Let every church and every group of scattered brethren and sisters be represented in this meeting by one or more working members whether brethren or sisters. Do not fail to heed this earnest advice. Our meeting cannot be one to entertain large numbers of our people at this time of the year, for our friends at Kirkville are but few. But we want to see some from every quarter even though they may be almost alone where they live. Let us show an interest in this work at the outset, and let us make it a success by faithful, earnest, persevering effort. J. N. Andrews.
