Present Omens.

THE signs of the times are thrilling. Judgments, in the form of tremendous fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, eruptions, famines, pestilences, disease, and plagues, are admonishing all to prepare for that day of which it is said, “It shall come as a destruction from the Almighty,” that it is “great and very terrible,” so great that “none is like it.” Who will take warning and get ready? This is a question for each to answer for himself. A little time remains in which to work. Who will improve it? The trial of our faith is at hand; it is even here. Victories must be gained by us who have been dilatory that will cost a severe struggle. Shall we delay the entire consecration which we know we must make, if we ever see the inside of the city of God. God help us all to make it now.
The value of faith in the work of God will soon be appreciated. Light on the health reform and on labor in the cause are valuable, if followed. If not, “this is the condemnation.” Light is given, but men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil. How much better to renounce the evil and walk in the light.
Backslider, your chances are becoming more and more doubtful; yet if you will make a mighty and persevering effort now, you may be saved. Let not the present time pass without a desperate effort.
