When the late Wm. H. Seward died, there was considerable discussion in the papers in relation to his religious standing and his prospects for the future state. One paper expressed the opinion that there could be no doubt of his final salvation, because he had once been heard to express his belief in the immortality of the soul! As an easy way to Heaven, this leaves Universalism all in the shade.
