Farmers, Co-operation, and the Rise of Monopoly Wealth

In the last number of The American Farmer’s Advocate, published at Jackson, Tenn., we find the following significant paragraph:—
“We find it difficult to make the farmer comprehend the meaning and force of the word CO-OPERATION, but unwillingly they are compelled to co-operate in their contributions to monopolists; and their joint contributions are building up, with a rapidity beyond comprehension, a monied power which to-day is the threatening danger in our republic.”
These monied monopolies are amassing wealth at a rate which has never been equalled. And the Scriptures point to this very time, and this very work, when they speak of the rich heaping together treasure for the last days. James. 5:3.
