New Liberty.

Our meetings at this place closed last night. Yesterday, we organized a church, with Bro. E. G. Currier as elder, Bro. M. Churchill, deacon, and Bro. O. D. Phillips, clerk and treasurer. Eleven came into the organization. Two more had signed the covenant, but were not present at the organization. I think they will both unite, and also others who are interested. No one of them had ever belonged to any Adventist church before. There is a bright prospect before this little church, if all prove faithful. We organized S. B. to the amount of $35 for the remainder of the year; and this will be raised considerably, as all the members were not present. May the Lord bless the New Liberty church.
I leave in the morning for the Parallel church, in Washington Co.

We have just closed our first quarterly meeting, as recommended by the General Conference Committee. We are highly pleased with the arrangement. We believe, if faithfully carried out, these meetings will give a new impetus to the cause of God. The members who were in attendance gave encouraging responses to the call of their names. No reports were received from the members living at a distance; hence we appointed a committee to visit, in person, or by pen, each absent member, and report to next meeting. This meeting was truly encouraging. A commendable spirit is being manifested to rise above all former difficulties, and to love one another. J. H. Cook.
