A PRACTICAL AND SENSIBLE PRAYER GAUGE.
Says the Wayside: “We pray, and forget the prayer, and when the answer comes, the thanksgiving which a remembrance of the prayer would bring, is not upon our lips. “A record of prayers offered for specific objects would be an encouragement to faith. A friend of ours, a teacher, opened in his commonplace book a prayer account; drawing a line down the center of the page, he recorded on the left side the things for which he made request of God, with the dates. On the right he recorded the answers, with the dates. His prayer account has been running for some years, and is an interesting as well as an impressive testimony to the value of prayer. He is a much stronger Christian because of this record. He has but to turn the pages of his book, and case after case of blessings granted in direct answer to prayer comes before him, and he goes in confidence again to Him who hath heard him in times past. “This is the most practicable and sensible ‘prayer gauge’ of which we have heard.”
