TO T. AND M. OFFICERS OF MISSOURI.
By D. C. Hunter
The report from Missouri is the best I could get from the directors, after making a strong effort. I am glad to get that much, but still it is not enough. We can do more work than is reported for the past quarter; and we have done the work, but the report is deficient. Our T. and M. officers have to learn their duties the same as they have learned other things. We know but little except what we learn, but we should try to improve in everything. Our Conference will be held near Sedalia about the middle of September. Now if each church and T. and M. society will send a good business representative to the Conference, I will be there, if the Lord so wills it, and I want to make your personal acquaintance, and give instructions in the work, that we may all understand it. For some years I have been trying to learn how to do this work, and I am trying to get instruction from others of more experience, and if we can get together at our camp-meeting there will be others there who can help us. We take over 400 copies of our papers, and should have reported over 5,000 distributed, whereas we report less than 4,000. Are the others distributed? If so, they should be reported. Some of the districts have not reported a family visited, and but few letters written. Is this correct? If so, we are surely asleep. We should have paid in subscription on our Signs $150.00, whereas there is only $80.00 reported. The contract in taking the Signs was that we would pay for them each quarter. We have failed to keep our contract, and the Signs Office must suffer. This is not right; we must keep our word. Now, brethren, wake up, and let us attend to the Lord's business, and then he will bless ours; otherwise we may look for the curse to rest upon us. I hope to meet you at camp-meeting, and talk with you personally upon these matters. Be sure to come. Commence preparing now, and then do not be hindered by any trivial matter. We shall not lose anything by serving the Lord. May the Lord bless the work in Missouri. D. C. HUNTER.
