CAMP-MEETING IN NEBRASKA.

This meeting, held at Seward, Neb., Sept. 25-30, was one of great interest to the cause in that State. Nebraska and Iowa had been united in one Conference till this meeting was held; but God has greatly blessed Nebraska during the past few years, and our cause has grown quite strong, so it was thought best that a separate Conference should be organized. The minds of the brethren seemed to be prepared for the action, and there was no lack of harmony. Bro. L. B. Boyd, Seward, Neb., was elected president, and G. S. Reichard, Pleasant Home, Neb., secretary.
A State T. and M. society was organized, with all the officers complete, and with a good supply of books and tracts with which to commence their winter’s work.
The Nebraska Conference contains seventeen churches, with a membership of about three hundred and fifty, besides many that are scattered over the State. Over one hundred of these have embraced the truth during the past year. We see no reason why this may not soon become a strong Conference. The attractive climate and soil of Nebraska are drawing thousands of emigrants to its borders; and our brethren and sisters will find plenty to do to set the truth of God before them. But I know of no field where this can be done with better prospects of success.
Our meeting was a good one. The brethren came with a mind to work, and God blessed them. Quite a good congregation were out on Sunday, and listened with the greatest respect. Evidently the truth made a deep impression on their minds. Many expressed their conviction that what they had heard was truth.
Over one hundred subscribers were secured for our different periodicals by our T. and M. workers. It was voted to raise a reserve fund of $1,000 for the T. and M. society, and over $800 was pledged for that purpose.
Monday Bro. Boyd baptized twenty-six. Our meeting closed Tuesday morning. At our closing meeting Bro. Henry Shultz was ordained to the work of the gospel ministry. This was an impressive meeting, one in which all seemed to share in the blessing of God. Our brethren parted with feelings of good courage, and praying for prosperity for this new Conference.
