RESPONSE FROM A KANSAS SOLDIER.

We respond to the call of our commander. Your orders came at the right time. We expect a grand review in April, and will try to be prepared for it. I was recently out on the skirmish line about two weeks. The enemy’s front was broken, and some were captured. Our revolvers (tracts) did good work, especially those marked U. S., also those of Eastern manufacture. I went to the barracks of Dist. No. 1 the other day, and obtained a revolving cannon (Biblical Institute) all mounted. It is in range of any position the enemy may take. I recommend it to every man in the field; it can be used against the enemy’s strongholds. Let us rally, fellow-soldiers, with our swords (the word of God) in our hands, and fight during this campaign as never before. Our pay and bounty are sure; and at last we shall receive a crown of life which shall endure forever.
