“Wof you know ’bout de Sabbuf?” said an aged colored man to whose notice I brought the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. “Christians kep’ de firs’ day ob de week hundreds ob years; ’sides, wen I was a slave I planted some caun on Sunday in de middle ob massar’s farm, den some hogs done gone destroyed it all; so eber sense I tink de Sunday is de Sabbuf.”
