"Rome Never Changes."

THE Sabbath Recorder, after noting the position of the Catholic Church in regard to secret societies, and its quasi-support of temperance principles, asks: "May we not hope that the time is not far distant when the dominion of the church over the faith and practice of her communicants will be broken, and the era of freedom of conscience shall come again to this priest-ridden church?" No; the Bible forbids us to hope for any such change. It is a truth that "Rome never changes." The prophet, speaking of the papal power, says: "I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High, and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom." Dan. 7:21, 22. Freedom of conscience and Roman Catholicism are incompatible.
