As far as we have heard, the Sabbath-school reports are not coming in as promptly as they have in former years.
It must be remembered that upon the correctness and promptness of our Sabbath-school reports the denominational reports to the General Conference will be chiefly based. Unless we have these reports of the work in the several States, we shall be unable to report to the Conference the actual condition of our Sabbath-schools.
It is certainly very important that the secretaries of our State associations, and also of our local Sabbath-schools, should see that the blanks for quarterly reports are properly filled out, and forwarded to the proper officers of the State associations in season for them to be forwarded to the General Sabbath-school secretary in season for his report at the annual Conference.
We notice in our last Youth's Instructor that Bro. Haskell has a communication upon the Sabbath-school, in which he sets forth some important facts in regard to its present condition. We hope that all our Sabbath-school secretaries will carefully read this article, and act upon the suggestions presented.
At the time of the General Conference, the Sabbath-school interests will be presented in a clear and distinct manner, and thus the whole field can be benefited by a knowledge of what is doing in other departments. But this cannot be done unless the reports come in promptly and correctly.
Let our secretaries remember this, and act accordingly.
