Poisoning from Clams

SEVERAL persons, in Berkeley, this State, were poisoned a few days ago by eating clams dug near the mouth of a sewer. Two of the men have died, the others may recover. Clams are at best totally unfit for food. As shown by this incident, they are among the most filthy of scavengers, living on the most vile and poisonous matter.
