3468 — Discretion. Prov. 11:22

Will you please give the meaning of "discretion" in Prov. 11:22? H.
The Standard Dictionary tells us that "discretion" means "the ability and tendency to decide with prudence and circumspection; instructive perception of what is wise or proper, united with caution, . . . especially in relation to one's own conduct." The Hebrew word indicates nice perception, good taste. Spurrell (a woman) renders: "As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, is a lovely woman who hath departed from discretion." That is, unwise, reckless, wanton, silly behavior looks as much out of place in a lovely woman as a gold ring in the snout of a swine.
