THE BREAD OF LIFE.

"I AM the bread of life; he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst." John 6:35.

O, how my inmost soul was stirred When I believed that living word— That "whosoever will," may come And find in Christ a precious boon! Dear Lord, I come, I find.

O, how it does our spirit grieve When those we love will not believe The precious words which Thou hast said, "I am the light, the living bread," "Come unto Me," and find.

Lord, if Thou art the bread indeed, Cause them upon that bread to feed, That they may learn to know aright "The entrance of Thy Word" is light. O, may they come and see!

Then gently lead us all the way, Nor ever let us from Thee stray. Be Thou our Guide, our Shepherd, Friend, Until this life, or time, shall end, And then we all shall find.
