NEVADA CITY AND GRASS VALLEY, CAL.

DURING the last ten days I visited these places where Bro. Briggs has been laboring. Found twelve keeping the Sabbath at Nevada. After visiting the friends at their homes and holding a meeting at each place, we appointed a general meeting at Nevada City where the brethren and friends of both places met at an early hour last Sabbath. It was a good day for the church, and all the friends present. Had a very interesting Sabbath-school in the morning, followed by preaching, after which five willing souls went forward in baptism. These joined the church, also two others who had been baptized before. In the afternoon the ordinances were celebrated for the first time here. The Lord came very near and we had an excellent social meeting. There are eight or ten others who we hope will soon decide to unite in church fellowship with us. Bro. Briggs spoke in the evening from 1 Tim. 1:5, 6, to an appreciative audience. He has held about a dozen meetings at Newcastle near Auburn, where eight have already signed the covenant to keep all the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
