The Willing Sacrifice of Christ

"The wages of sin is death." Whenever one chose a lamb for sacrifice, that lamb stood in his stead, dying because he deserved to die. That lamb in his innocence represented God's great gift of His Son; but the lamb's death was not voluntary, while Christ's was. There can be no vicarious atonement without a willing offering on the part of the vicar, the one who stands in another's stead.
