A Sister from Allegan, Mich.
By R. S.
In answer to your inquiries concerning the wearing of hoops and other useless articles of dress, I, for one, do not think they are becoming women professing godliness. My heart has been pained within me many times to see this conformity to the world by those who profess to be a separate people, zealous of good works. By their fruits ye shall know them. Dear sisters, let us not give a lie to our profession, or bring a reproach upon the cause of our Master, for such unscriptural apparel. As the outside is an index to the heart, it becomes us to adorn ourselves in modest apparel, and with a meek and quiet spirit, which Peter informs us, is in the sight of God of great price. My desire and prayer to God is that we may be followers of that which is good, and meet with the redeemed on mount Zion. From your sister.
