The Call of the Night

THERE'S a cry in the wind to-night From the lands where the Lord is unknown, While the Shepherd above, in His pitiful love, Intercedes at His Father's throne.
There's a call from the dark to-night, That haunts the lighted room, From His "other sheep" on the broken steep At the edge of eternal doom.
There's a pain at my heart to-night — From the heart of God it came — For I can not forget that He loves them yet, And they've never heard of His name.
There's a sob in my prayer to-night, When I think of the million homes Where never a word for the Lord is heard, Nor a message from Jesus comes. — Author Unknown.
