Making Friends in Church

"I HAVE attended that church for a year, and hardly any one has spoken to me." How much chance have you given the people to speak to you? "A man that hath friends must show himself friendly," says the wise man. Much more must a man who wants friends. And if you have shown yourself shy, and surly, and suspicious, your lack of friends is your own fault. In about four cases out of five, the people who fail to become acquainted in the churches which they attend, have either forbidden all advances by their reserve, or failed to respond to those advances when made.—S.
