Evil Men Waxing Worse.

ONE of the signs of the last days was to be that evil men and seducers should wax worse and worse.
Read the following account of the barbarity of Rebel guerrillas upon their victims, and ask yourself if some have not already reached about the lowest depths of infernal depravity.
Brig.-Gen. Ben Loan publishes in The Missouri Democrat a letter from Col. Penick, commanding at Independence, which states that Private Johnson was brought in dead on the 11th of January, and that he is the fifth one murdered there in a week by Rebel guerrillas. They were all wounded, and killed afterward. All of them were shot in the head, and several of them had their faces cut to pieces with boot-heels. Powder was exploded in one man's ear, and both ears were cut off close to the head. Gurrillas are threatning Union women in the country. They have also levied an assessment upon the loyal men of the county and are collecting it.
