Peace

PEACE.—Peace is better than joy. Joy is an uneasy guest and always on tip-toe to depart. It tires and wears us out, and yet koeps us ever fearing that the next moment it will be gone. Peace is not so—it comes more quietly and stays more contentedly, and it never exhausts our strength, nor gives us one anxious forecasting thought. Therefore let us pray for peace. It is the gift of God—promised to all his children; and if we have it in our hearts we shall not pine for joy, though its bright wings never touch us while we tarry in the world.
