1 Chronicles 1:35

The sons of Esau; Eliphaz, Reuel, and Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah.

The verse gives the genealogy of Esau, who is Edom, by listing his five sons as Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. Like other long lists of names in the Bible, it may not seem to every reader as interesting, instructive, or useful as passages such as the Gospels. It belongs to the biblical record of the origin and distribution of races, whose details are of interest for the study of ethnology.

It is part of an inspired and preserved genealogy, and correct genealogies of this kind were necessary to the development and certainty of the gospel. It shows that God's people kept careful records of family lines, which point to God's faithful record of every soul in heaven.
