1 Chronicles 12:16

And there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the hold unto David.

The verse belongs to the fuller parallel account of the events leading to David's rule over all Israel. That account centers on the assembly at Hebron, where representatives of Israel's tribes came to David and acknowledged him as king. Within that gathering, men of Benjamin and Judah came to David at the hold as part of the loyal contingents rallying to him.

The fighting men assembled on that occasion numbered about 350,000. Their gathering included a three-day festival. Those who gathered included mighty men noted for courage, speed, skill, wisdom, and wholehearted loyalty.
