1 Chronicles 12:19

And there fell some of Manasseh to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not: for the lords of the Philistines upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.

The verse belongs to the account of the contingents from the tribes who gathered to David. That gathering took place at Hebron, where the tribes came to recognize David as king. About 350,000 fighting men assembled on that occasion. The gathering included a three-day festival. The men who gathered are presented as a loyal army marked by strength, courage, speed, skill, wisdom, and wholeheartedness.
