Warriors Gather at Hebron to Make David Kingby emmanuel_higgins

1 Chronicles 12:39

And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.

The verse is part of a parallel account of the events surrounding David's becoming king over all Israel. It belongs to the account of the contingents from each tribe who gathered to David at Hebron to make him king and acknowledge him as king. Those who gathered were loyal men, described as mighty, courageous, swift, skilled, wise, and wholehearted.

The larger gathering represented 339,600 warriors. They stayed with David at Hebron three days, eating and drinking, because their brethren and fellow Israelites had prepared provisions for them.
