1 Chronicles 15:24

And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

1 Chronicles 15:24 belongs to the account of David's plans concerning the house of God and the bringing of the ark of God to Jerusalem. It describes David bringing the ark from Kirjath-jearim to Jerusalem after it had stayed three months at Obed-edom's house, where the Lord blessed his household, and David brought it up with gladness. More specifically, it records bringing the ark from Obed-edom to Jerusalem and placing it in a tent David had prepared for it.

The bringing was done according to God's appointed order, connected with the Levites' proper handling of the ark. Seven named priests blew trumpets before the ark of God during its procession, while Obed-edom and Jehiah served as doorkeepers guarding its entrance. The arrangement shows the reverence and ordered care given to the ark as it was brought to its new resting place, placing instrumental music and appointed roles within Israel's organized religious worship.
