David Brings the Ark Into Jerusalem with Musicby emmanuel_higgins

1 Chronicles 15:25

So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-edom with joy.

David, together with the elders of Israel and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-edom to Jerusalem with joy. The event belongs to the account of David bringing the ark of God to Jerusalem. The ark had remained in the house of Obed-edom for three months before this joyful transfer to the city.

During those three months the LORD had blessed Obed-edom and his household because of the ark, and David then brought it onward with gladness. This bringing up followed David's acknowledgment of the earlier breach, when he directed that the ark be carried as God had ordained. Its removal was therefore to be done according to God's instructions and not by humanly chosen means.

In the procession surrounding this bringing up, the Levites' singers and instrumentalists serve in organized worship, with music and song offered to God. The bringing of the ark to Jerusalem is connected with David's plan concerning the house of God.
