David Gives Solomon the Plans for the Templeby emmanuel_higgins

1 Chronicles 15:27

And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.

The verse belongs to David's later effort to bring the ark to Jerusalem after he recognized that it had not been moved according to God's instructions. That effort corrected the earlier failure by having the priests and Levites bring the ark in the manner God had ordained.

David personally joined the procession wearing a robe of fine linen and a linen ephod. With him were the Levites who carried the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the director of the song. The scene places organized singing and instrumental music within Israel's worship. It shows David himself taking part in that sacred service alongside those appointed to carry and to sing.
