1 Chronicles 15:28
Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps. Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.
Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD to Jerusalem in a joyful procession with shouting and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps. The ark was brought from Kirjath-jearim to Jerusalem, and was brought into the city with gladness after David had first placed it in the house of Obed-edom. The bringing took place after David directed the priests and Levites to carry it in the way God had ordained and commanded.
The verse marks the ark's arrival into the city to its appointed place, the tabernacle David had pitched for it. The Lord's help and approval followed David's decision to obey the prescribed way of moving the ark. Worship and good intentions do not excuse disobedience to God's instructions.
The verse presents shouting as a fitting expression of holy joy in worship. Shouting that rises from a heart overflowing with faith, love, and good works is scriptural and pleasing to God.
