Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred:
Shemaiah was the chief of the sons of Elizaphan, and two hundred of his brethren were numbered with him. This naming and numbering belongs to the account of bringing the ark to Jerusalem. It forms part of the record of the Levites who were assembled for that work. Their assembling was for carrying out the bringing of the ark according to God's instructions.
